How to Make CBD Lip Balm: The Best Recipe Out There

It's easy to make your own natural beeswax lip balm at home and infuse it with CBD. This is perfect for DIY enthusiasts as well as those looking to save money on cannabis products, so read on to learn how you can create your own salve at home.

Gather Necessary Ingredients

The first step to creating CBD lip balm is to gather the ingredients that you will need. This includes:

  • 1 cup of CBD infused Coconut Oil
  • 1 cup of Olive Oil
  • 1/3 cup of Beeswax
  • 1/4 cup of Honey
  • 2 tbsp of Magical Sunflower Lecithin
  • 3/4 oz of Lemon Grass
  • 1/5 oz of Peppermint Extract
  • 1 juiced Lemon

These items can all be found at your local supermarket. You should also have access to:

Infuse Your Oils

The first step once you have all of your ingredients gathered is to infuse your oils with CBD. Place all of the ingredients into the Magical Butter Machine. Once you check and ensure that the head is completely secure and is not going to come loose, you can select the temperature at which you want your ingredients to cycle.

Once you put all of the components into the machine, set the temperature to 160°F or (71°C, for our non-American users). Press the 1 HOUR/OIL button to make it run for an hour and leave it alone to cycle. The machine will then grind, heat, stir, and steep your herbal extract all on its own, so all you need to do is wait until the machine beeps to let you know it's done.

You then should filter the mixture that has been created. Rinse out the pitcher from your machine. After the pitcher is clean, pour the infused oils back inside of it and add the beeswax and lecithin. Secure the head on the pitcher once again.

Make Your Lip Balm

At this point, you will once again run the MagicalButter machine. Select 160ºF or 71°C and then press the 1 HOUR/OIL button again.

After the cycle is complete, you will want to take your sterilized containers and pour the lip balm mixture into them. Make sure that you do this immediately after the cycle ends so that it does not begin to harden into one large block.

You also do not use the filter for this step because the lip balm wax starts to harden while it is being poured.

Finally, grab your paper towels and wipe the machine clean of any excess wax while everything is still warm. Run a cleaning cycle, but do not add cold water to the machine when running it. Cold water will not clean the machine but will instead make your wax stick to everything. This will become a huge mess and could potentially harm the machine as well.

CBD Lip Balm FAQ

You likely still have some questions before using the lip balm that you have created. Here, we're going to tackle some of the most pressing ones to ensure that you do not have any confusion before using your homemade product. Read on to learn about the effectiveness of your recipe, alterations that you can make, and more.

Will CBD Lip Balm Get You High?

No. You will absolutely not get high from using your CBD lip balm.

Because CBD is made with the cannabis plant, many people have the misconception that it will get them high. This is not the case at all. THC is the part of the cannabis plant that gets you high, and this is distinct from the other part of the cannabis plant- CBD- that you will be using in your lip balm provides relief.

How Effective Is This Recipe?

The provided recipe is by far one of the most effective out there. The mixture contains no harsh chemicals that can harm your skin or irritate your mouth. It also provides excellent coverage and can be applied at any frequency.

Most store-bought lip balms contain alcohol or significantly more menthol than necessary, therefore causing dependency on the product. On the flip side, this natural recipe only uses herbs, oils, and beeswax that can heal and soothe. You will see both immediate and long-term benefits for chapped lips when you use this salve with none of the side effects.

Another reason that this CBD lip balm recipe is so effective is that it can be tweaked based on your needs. If you have an allergy or aversion to mint, for example, you can simply leave out the peppermint. You also can create a less waxy version of this lip balm by using slightly less beeswax and a bit of extra coconut oil.

Can You Make Different Lip Balm Flavors?

You can make different flavors of this lip balm as well. Substitute the peppermint in the original recipe with a bit of the flavor that you want to add.

Some of the best flavors include vanilla extract or a very small amount of all-natural fruit juice. Experimenting with different recipes on your own is the best way to discover what flavors you like, and since you can make as many batches of lip balm you like with your Magical Butter Machine, there's no rush.

Get Started

While store-bought chapstick is not nearly as effective as it should be, the alternative- natural CBD-infused lip balm- can work wonders. With your Magical Butter Machine, you can make as much of this salve as you like, whenever you want it.
